The Problem
I was totally lost on this. I’m working on a song in Logic and all of a sudden, I noticed the pitch sounded lower. I ignored it because I thought I must have been imagining it, but then I listened to an older bounced version and yep, it’s at the higher pitch I originally expected.
Troubleshooting Logic
I turned on varispeed and pitched it up to about 10%, which sounded like the early version but faster. I went back to the earlier project alternative (which I use for this exact reason) and it sounds right! Problem is, I didn’t want to go back to that and lose all my work
I checked a few things to see if it might be causing the lowered pitch:
- Varispeed is off and it still sounds lower
- Changing key signature has no effect
- Checked Flex Pitch to see if the notes had been brought down, but Logic is reporting that they are the same pitch
The last thing I did was export the right and wrong alternatives to new Logic files and then compared their audio settings
The Solution
Turns out, the Sample Rate had been changed from 48 to 41.1! I don’t know why that happened, but changing it back to 48 solved the issue. Hope this is helpful to anyone who searches for this problem
